Problème configuration FFADO ?

Bonjour à tous.
J'ai fait l'acquisition d'un portable Dell latitude D630 d'occasion sur lequel j'ai installée ubuntu-studio 16.04.
L'idée est de me créer une petite station de montage pour mes créations radiophoniques (je suis animateur en radio locale).
Pour ce faire, j'ai également acquis, d'occas' toujours, une carte son M-audio profire 610 (reported to work sur le site de ffado).

Je suis absolument newbie chez Linux... et les pages de forums ou documentation ingurgitées sur ffado entament un peu ma motivation...

Je n'arrive pas à accéder à ma carte son à partir du serveur jack.
Est-ce un problème de configuration de ffado?

Je pense que tu utilise la carte avec un mini port fire-wire et que la carte devra être alimentée en externe car le "mini" port fire-wire ne peut pas véhiculer l'alimentation.

Aussi il doit te manquer des composants essaie de voir si tu trouve un paquet qui s'appelle multimedia-firewire (ce paquet t'installe tout ce qu'il te faut mais à voir si ubuntu le fourni aussi - je suis sous debian) et aussi libraw139 .

Cela dit les pilotes de carte son en firewire sont maintenant inclus dans les noyau récent et tu doit pouvoir l'atteindre par le biais de alsa.

La seule chose qui reste d'actualité c'est ffado-mixer que je te conseille d'ouvrir depuis un terminal.

Merci pour la précision de l'alim ! J'en ai commandé une.
J'ai bien trouvé une archive d'installation de libraw1394 (reste à voir la procédure d'installation, qui pour un débutant reste obscur) mais aucune trace de multimédia-firewire.
Je reviens vers vous quand j'ai reçu l'alim et réussi à installer les composants manquants.

Bonjour.
Avec l'alim, ça marche déjà mieux. Je pensais vraiment que le mino port FW permettait l'alimentation.
La carte est accessible, non par Alsa, comme suggéré plus haut, mais par ffado.
Elle apparaît dans Qjack si je démarre avec ffado comme pilote.
Bon, après je n'accède pas à ma carte dans les diverses applications, mais là je pense que ça vient de ma méconnaissance du système.
Je continue à fouiller la documentation. C'est long. Moi et l'anglais...
Je pense revenir sur le forum rapidement.

Je reviens vers vous étant un peu perdu...
Je voudrais faire des prises de son (interview) avec audacity (par exemple).
J'ai branché ma profire et lancé le serveur jackd qui démarre correctement. Dans le menu "connect", ma carte son apparaît sous la forme d'entrée et sorties que je n'arrive pas à identifier physiquement. Des connexions sont établies par défaut entre des ports firewire_pcm et pulseaudio jack sink.
D'autre part, audacity ne me propose que alsa et oss en hôte audio.
Je ne trouve pas de documentation claire sur le sujet.
Et quand je me ballade sur les forums, je sens que les users ont un niveau de connaissance avancée de linux... Ça fout des complexes.
Donc excusez ces questions de newbie mais:
Quels sont les étapes à suivre, les réglages à effectuer pour réaliser cette manipulation triviale qui consiste à capturer du son avec un micro??

1) Normalement, quand Jack est démarré (par exemple avec QjackCtl), Audacity le voit comme un des ports audio auxquels il peut se connecter.
Voir cela dans Audacity :
Edition / Préférences / Périphériques
Le menu déroulant de "Host" doit te proposer aussi "JACK Audio Connection Kit"

Sinon c'est que Jack n'est pas lancé.
Est-ce que tu as bien cliqué sur le bouton "Démarrer" de QjackCtl avant de lancer Audacity ?

2) Le comportement d'Audacity avec Jack n'est pas trés ergonomique. Pour te faciliter la tache, je te conseille de lancer Patchage (après avoir démarré Jack bien sur) qui est installé sur Ubuntu-Studio. Patchage va te permettre de gérer beaucoup plus facilement les connections entre tes différents ports matériels et logiciel.

Dans la fenêtre de Patchage, une fois que tu as démarré Audacity correctement configuré pour Jack, il n'est pas directement visible. Mais il y a un item "PortAudio" qui apparait. En fait, c'est Audacity car celui-ci utilise portaudio pour communiquer avec Jack.
Sauf qu'il n'y a pour l'instant aucun port dans cet item.
Pour que les ports apparaissent, tu retournes dans Audacity. Puisque tu veux faire un enregistrement tu cliques sur le bouton "pause" puis sur le bouton "enregistrement".
Hop, une nouvelle piste est crée, prête à enregistrer.
Et en même temps, miracle, dans Patchage l'item "PortAudio" dispose désormais d'entrées et de sorties. Et normalement elles sont reliées aux ports correspondant de ta carte son.

Tu n'as plus qu'à enlever la pause dans Audacity pour lancer ton enregistrement.

Jack semble bien lancé, mais n’apparaît pas dans le menu "host" d'audacity et Patchage ne parvient pas à se connecter à Jack.
Quand je dis que Jack est bien lancé, j'entends que l'état du serveur dans la fenêtre de QjackCtl indique "démarré" en jaune.

J'ai cru lire, ça et là, qu'il fallait lancer Ffado-mixer avant de lancer le serveur Jack. Est-ce le cas?
(Sachant que si je lance Ffado-mixer, Jack ne parvient plus à démarrer pour une sombre histoire de dbus-serveur).

Je viens de parcourir rapidement ton fil. Connais plus trop ffado aussi je n'interviens que sur un détail.

J'ai fait la manip' il y a peu et je confirme que jackd apparaît bien, normalement, dans "préférences/audio" d'audacity.
Par contre, ce dernier a un comportement atypique par rapport à jackd. Il n'apparaît en effet, dans les connexions de jackd (ou patchage), qu'à partir du moment où il est armé en enregistrement... et sous le nom de portaudio, si mes souvenirs sont bons.

Je confirme que Jack n'apparait pas les préférences d'audacity, mais seulement Alsa et Oss.
Cependant, lorsque je lance audacity, le log de Qjackctl affiche les lignes suivantes:

Je confirme les propos de allany.
Tu ne verras apparaître les connections de audacity avec le serveur jack que lorsqu'il est enclanché, pour enregistrer ou simplement lire, et effectivement sous le nom de portaudio !
Ce n'est pas très pratique.

On va essayer d'y voir plus clair.
Stoppe le serveur jack et dis-nous ce que
retourne la commande "cat /proc/asound/cards" ?

Si elle fonctionne correctement, elle devrait apparaitre dans le retour de commande avec un numéro devant.

Débranche le cable firewire et après quelques secondes rebranche le.

Tape la commande "dmesg" et regardons si ta carte apparait.

Autant pour moi.
J'avais pas tout lu dans le fil ...

Il semble donc que depuis que tu alimentes la carte en externe, elle est reconnue.

J'avoue que j'ai abandonné depuis longtemps ubuntu-studio, donc je vais essayer de m'y refaire.
Souvent les sources de problèmes viennent des réglages du serveur jack.

Lorsque tu lances qjackctl, en-dessous de l'onglet quitter, tu as un onglet réglages.
Ouvre cette fenetre:

Sous pilote tu dois avoir "firewire".
Interface "par défaut"
Je ne connais pas ta carte mais sous fréquence tu mets soit 44100 ou 48000, échantillons 512, tampons, 3.

Ensuite, tape la commande "sudo apt-get install pulseaudio-module-jack".
Pulseaudio est source de souci mais avec il va te laisser en paix (pulseaudio est un serveur de son également, installé par défaut dans ubuntu. Il brouille souvent les choses).

Ensuite essaie de lancer l'onglet démarrer.

Elle est donc reconnue, et comme dit plus haut, je peux démarrer Jack avec et le menu "connect" m'affiche des ports d'entrée et sortie.
C'est là que ça se complique, pour moi:
Faut-il paramétrer ffado-mixer avant?
Y a-t-il d'autres réglages à effectuer dans Jack?
Pourquoi audacity ne propose pas Jack en host?

Perso, je n'utilise jamais ffado-mixer, donc je peux pas trop t'aider.

La fenêtre connexions te permet de lier des entrées aux sorties, comme des patch en réalité avec une table de mixage.
Encore une fois audacity n'est pas le meilleur outil pour tester car il réagit un peu bizarrement avec jack, en tout cas, pour ce qui est d'afficher les ports entrée et sortie.

Essaie peut-être un programme tout simple comme hydrogen, un looper de batterie facile à utiliser.
S'il n'est pas installé, ben comme dab tu tapes "sudo apt-get install hydrogen" ou encore dans les menus systèmes, tu as un programme "synaptic" qui fait le rôle de apt mais en mode grapĥique.

Une fois installé, tu vas dans outils>préférences et tu me dis si le serveur jack apparait.

Deux choses importantes liées à ça:

-Ta carte utilise les modules firewire_ohci et firewire_core (pas du tout raw1394)
-En language linuxien, ta carte est montée via le node /dev/fw1

La commande

"lsmod | grep -e 1394 -e firewire"


devrait te confirmer tout ça.
Voici ce qu'elle retourne chez moi:

marc@hp:~$ lsmod | grep -e 1394 -e firewire
firewire_ohci          40360  0 
firewire_core          64575  19 firewire_ohci
crc_itu_t              12707  2 rt73usb,firewire_core


Si le serveur est inaccessible dans hydrogen, c'est qu'il y a peut-être un souci de droits d'accès que tu ne possèdes pas pour les utiliser librement.
Cela se résoud facilement, mais là je vais dormir.

Hydrogen m'envoi direct le message suivant au démarrage:
"Erreur au lancement du pilote audio"
Et dans le même temps, le log de QjackCtl affiche le même message d'erreur que précédemment, pour Audacity ou Patchage:
Sun Sep  4 21:49:25 2016: ERROR: JackPosixProcessSync::LockedTimedWait error usec = 5000000 err = Connection timed out
Sun Sep  4 21:49:25 2016: ERROR: Driver is not running
Sun Sep  4 21:49:25 2016: ERROR: Cannot create new client


Mais jack apparaît bien dans la liste des serveurs son.

Et la commande "lsmod | grep -e 1394 -e firewire" donne effectivement ceci:
firewire_ohci          36864  0
firewire_core          65536  1 firewire_ohci
crc_itu_t              16384  1 firewire_core
